Gloucester, MA — Francesco (Ciccio) Taormina, 75, husband of Giovanna (Palazzolo) Taormina, of Gloucester, passed away on Friday evening, June 22, 2012, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Terrasini Sicily, on November 4, 1936, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Rosa (Di Mercurio) Taormina. Francesco and Giovanna would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this October. Francesco and his family moved to Gloucester in 1981. He fished with the Giacomo F and The Constellation. In his spare time, he loved to garden and especially enjoyed growing tomatoes. Francesco was a very loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and cherished the time he had with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three children Salvatore Taormina and wife Enza, Rosa LoDuca and husband Nick, Giuseppe Taormina and wife Angela; grandchildren Frank, Salvatore and Anthony Taormina, Marie and Jena LoDuca, Gianna and Alessia Taormina; two sisters, Maria Ruvolo and husband Salvatore, Lina Napoli and husband Paolo; his brother Salvatore Taormina and wife Rosa; sisters and brothers-in-law, Graziella and Joseph Palazzolo , Vita and Vincenzo Agri, Angela and Giuseppe Mule, Filippa and Vincenzo Parisi, Rosa Palazzolo and Mariella Albano.
He was predeceased by his brothers Vito and Giuseppe Taormina and brothers-in-law Vincenzo Purpura, Salvatore Albano.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held from the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester, on Tuesday at 9:45 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Ann’s Church on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday (today) from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
The burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery.
