Martta Blanchet, 92


Boynton Beach, Fla. — Martta Blanchet (Somppi) passed quietly in Boynton Beach, Fla. after a long illness. Martta was the loving wife of Roland Blanchet.

After graduation from Rockport High School, Martta continued her education at Suomi College in Hancock, Mich., where she received a degree as a medical records librarian. She worked for the vast majority of her life at the Addison Gilbert Hospital in charge of medical records. She was also a consultant to many area hospitals and nursing homes. After retiring from the hospital, she was Executive Director of the Rockport Art Association. She was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rockport Rotary Club for her efforts and community service to the town of Rockport. Her final years were happily spent with Roland in West Palm Beach, Fla.

In addition to her husband, Martta is survived by her children, Suzanne Blanchet-Jones and husband Robert of West Palm Beach, Fla, Raymond Blanchet and wife Helen of Virginia Beach, Va; grandchildren, Elizabet Jones and Chelsea Blanchet; step-grandchildren Anthony, Michelle and Gina Espinosa and their seven great grand children. She was predeceased by her brother John Somppi and Walter Onni Somppi.
