William D. Coveney, Jr., 56, of Rockport, husband of Norma Jean (Moriarty) Coveney, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2012 in the Addison Gilbert Hospital in Gloucester.
Bill was born in Jamaica Plain, MA on January 26, 1956, the son of William and Dorothy (Anderson) Coveney.
He attended Boston Technical High School and graduated with the Class of 1974.
When he graduated from high school he married Norma Jean. They started raising a family and building their life together.
He had a love of cars and motorcycles and gave generously with his time to the kids in the neighborhood, buying bikes and showing them how to ride. He was a great auto mechanic and he always lent a helping hand when his friends needed assistance with their cars. Bill was a jack of all trades. But, most of all, he was a wonderful Dad, excelling in his love for his children and doing a great job in helping to raise them.
He was also a member of the American Legion, Lester S. Wass Post 3, Gloucester, MA.
Bill is survived by his wife, Norma Jean, one daughter, Samantha; two sons, Daniel Coveney, Michael Coveney and his fiancé Bryanna Ambrose; three sisters, Claire Donnelly, Elizabeth Woodford, Marianne Norton; two brothers, David J. Coveney, Robert Coveney; one granddaughter, Julianna Rae Coveney and many nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: His memorial service will be held in The First Congregational Church in Rockport, MA on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Family and friends are cordially invited.
There are no visiting hours and burial will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to a charity of one’s choice.
