Lawrence, MA — Kathryn “Kate” Marie Cooney, 20, of Lawrence, passed away on Monday, June 18, 2012, after a brief hospitalization at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen.
Born in Lewiston, Maine on March 6, 1992, she was the daughter of Jim and Norma (Darsney) Cooney of Rockport.
Kate had attended school in Rockport and then moved to Lawrence. While in school, Kate was active in the athletic programs having played field hockey, softball and basketball. She was also an avid swimmer and enjoyed spending summer days at Steel Derrick quarry. Kate also enjoyed arts and crafts and especially knitting.
In addition to her parents Jim and Norma, she is survived by her siblings, Nathan Cooney of Rockport, Crystal Cherry of Strong, ME, Dr. William Cooney of Ann Arbor, MI., Daniel Ducheneau, Andrew Ducheneau and Dr. Elizabeth Cooney, all of Rockport; her paternal grandparents Bob and Mabel Cooney of Rockport; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents Leon and Jeanette Darsney.
ARRANGEMENTS: A memorial mass will held in St. Joachim’s Church, Rockport on Saturday, June 23rd at 10 a.m. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend.
