Gloucester — Helen Y. Carr, 70, died Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at her home following an extended illness. She was the wife of George W. Carr, Sr.
Born in Seoul, Korea on January 14, 1942, she emigrated to the United States and settled in Gloucester in 1968. Helen was employed as a production worker at Gorton’s of Gloucester for several years until her retirement. She had also once worked as a nurse’s aide at the former Greycliff Nursing Home.
She was a member of the Holy Family Parish, St. Ann Church, where she enjoyed playing bingo. She loved to spend time with her family especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, George William Carr, Jr. and John William Carr; three daughters, Harriett Elizabeth LeRoux and her husband, Jeffrey T., Jeanette Elizabeth Nye and Veronica Elizabeth Carr; five grandchildren, Crew Philip William Ryan, Tia Nye, Aidan LeRoux, Nathan Nye, III and Ava Nye and a sister, Teresa Healey.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday in the Holy Family Parish, St. Ann Church, Pleasant St., Gloucester at 10:30 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle St., Gloucester from 1 – 4 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
