Douglas Davis, 80


Plymouth Ma — Douglas Markuson Davis died May 7, in Plymouth Mass. He was born February 9,1933, in Gloucester Mass., to the late Theodore and Catherine Davis.

Shortly after graduating from Gloucester High School with the Class of 1952, Doug enlisted in the U.S.Marine Corps, where he served until being honorably discharged in 1955.

He moved to Rockport where he and his wife, Dolores, raised a family of seven children.

He was a carpenter by trade and pursued many interests such as hiking, hunting and mountain climbing. He fulfilled a dream of hiking the Appalachian Trail after retiring at the age of 55.

Doug relocated to North Carolina with his wife, where they enjoyed their retirement years. He was predeceased by his wife in 2000.

Doug was also predeceased by his three brothers, Robert, Dana and Howard Davis. Doug is survived by his seven children; Luddy Peterson and his daughter, Celene and his wife, Sandy, Julie Smith, her husband, Rusty, and their children, Chrystel, Roland, Sarah and Amber, Candy Curcuru and her husband, Phil, and their sons, Brad and Tom, John Davis and his son, Tucker, and his wife, Nora, Catherine Davis and her son, Jeremy, Carolann Rose and her husband, Reg, and their children, Meghan, Mathew, Madison, and Melinda, Will Davis and his children, Jacquelin and Doug.

ARRANGEMENTS: A graveside service will be held at Mt.Pleasant Cemetary in Gloucester, Mass., on Wednesday, June 19, 1 p.m. Family and friends will be remembering Doug and his wife, Dolly, as they are laid to rest together.
