Shirley I. (Jacobs) Favazza, 85, of Gloucester, wife of the late Charles "Babe" Favazza, passed away in her sleep after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
Shirley was born in Gloucester on April 20, 1926, daughter of the late Thomas and Hilda I (Anderson) Jacobs. She is survived by her daughter, Sharyn A. Korthas of Gloucester and Sharyn's best friend Elaine (Zywuski) Robbins, who was like a daughter to Shirley. Her grandchildren; Dawn A. LeVie, Travis C. and wife Lisa Korthas of Gloucester and Aaron K. and wife Jill Korthas of Trophey Club, Texas.
Great-grandchildren are John R. LeVie III of Marblehead, Vanessa and Alana Korthas of Gloucester and Jack, Kali and Adam Korthas of Trophey Club, Texas.
Predeceased by brother, Robert Jacobs of Gloucester, sister, Marjorie wife of the late George Rotondi of Melrose, sister, Evelyn, wife of the late Maurice F. Roberts and brother, Roger Jacobs. She is survived by sister, Carol, wife of the late Donald Lane of Gloucester, sister, Bonnie Warren of Gloucester, brother Ronald Jacobs of Gloucester, sister-in-law, Josephine Jacobs and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley was a lifetime member of the Ladies Aux. to the VFW and was actively involved in many of the activities of Post 1624. she was also a member of the Women of the Moose.
ARRANGEMENTS: Shirley donated her remains to the Harvard Medical School. A celebration of her life will be held in the spring for family and friends.
