Robert “Bruce” MacLeod, 88, husband of Judith Anne (Moore) MacLeod, died Wednesday, April 4, after a brief illness. Bruce was born in Gloucester and was the son of the late Levi E. and Elizabeth K. (Ferguson) MacLeod.
Bruce was a graduate of Gloucester High School, class of 1941, and was a United States Navy Veteran of WWII. After WWII he served in the Merchant Marines for 11 years. He worked in the construction business for many years before his retirement. Bruce was a longtime resident of Beverly and 41 years ago he and Judy were married in the First Church in Wenham. He was a member of Liberty Lodge A.F. & A.M., life member of the Aleppo Temple Shrine in Wilmington, life member of the VFW Post #1624 in Gloucester, Massachusetts Consistory, life member of the Gloucester Elks Club, and life member of the American Legion Post #0003 in Gloucester. Bruce enjoyed entertaining family with jokes, songs and humor, he enjoyed dancing with his wife Judy and was known for being kind-hearted and having a helpful nature.
In addition to his wife Judy, he is survived by a son, David Fossiano and his wife Anne of Vt.; a brother-in-law, Richard F. Moore and his wife Judith Marie Moore of South Hamilton; three grandchildren, Nicole Fossiano, Kelly Sheehan and husband Michael, and Tucker Fossiano and his fiancée Heather; and a great-granddaughter, Sadie Anne Sheehan. He was predeceased by three special cousins, Audrey Young, Pricilla Brown and Shirley Jackson.
