Russell T. Asaro, 51, of Gloucester, died peacefully Monday afternoon, March 12, 2012 at Beverly Hospital surrounded by family.
Russell was born on March 13, 1960 in Gloucester, MA. He attended St. Ann’s School and was a 1978 graduate of Gloucester High School. Russell furthered his education by attending Northeastern University in Boston, MA and worked primarily in Florida as a pharmacist. As a pharmacist, Russell worked in retail, hospital, and clinical settings before moving back to Gloucester.
Russell was an avid sports fan and closely followed the Red Sox, Bruins, Patriots, and Celtics. He participated in many sports activities including baseball and ice hockey. He was the biggest fan of all his nieces and nephews sporting activities where he would attend many of their games. Russell loved music and was a drummer in several bands during his college career. He always loved a good joke and was a huge prankster. He was a member of the Gloucester Elks and also a member of the Northeastern University Alumni Association.
He is survived by his father, Rosario Asaro, of Gloucester, his sister Donna Favazza of Gloucester, and his twin brother, Christopher, of Valrico, Florida, and several nieces and nephews; Christopher Favazza, Matthew Favazza, and Elizabeth Favazza of Gloucester and Kristin Asaro and Jonathan Asaro of Brandon, Florida, and many friends.
He was pre-deceased by his mother Virginia Asaro of Gloucester and his brother John B. Asaro of Gloucester.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held from the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester on Friday, March 16th at 9:15 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Ann’s Church on Friday at 10 a.m.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
The burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery.
