Anthony P. Aiello, 93, beloved husband of Adriana (Mineo) Aiello, passed away on Jan. 28, 2012 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Boston on Sept. 26, 1918 to the late Vito and Maria (Militello) Aiello. He served in the US Navy during WWII, from 1942-1945 in the Atlantic Theater on board the USS Surprise and the USS Bazely. Anthony was a commercial fisherman for many years on many Boston and Gloucester fishing vessels including the Alden, Blue Waters, St. Rosalie, Acme and Mary Grace. After retiring from fishing, he worked at the Gull Restaurant. He was a member of the American Legion, enjoyed spending time with his family, playing bingo, cribbage, going to the Rose Baker Senior Center and walking the Boulevard.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Adriana Aiello of Gloucester; sons, Vito Aiello of Gloucester and his fiance' Christine Desaulniers, Frank Aiello and his wife Beth of Franklin Twp, N.J.; daughter, Maria Mannino and her husband Joseph of Gloucester; six grandchildren, Anthony (Tony) Aiello and Michelle Natareno of Malden, Virginia (Gina) Aiello and Trinity Isler of Wilson, North Carolina, Vito Aiello, John Mannino of Gloucester, Jacqueline and Alan Guyotte of Gloucester and Joshua Aiello and Sarah Cronan of Stoneham; seven great-grandchildren, T.J., Brady, Chloe Aiello, Carley and Jessie Mannino and Angelina Guyotte; sisters, Antonette Militello, Pauline Piscitello, Rose Demetri, Jennie Curcuru, and Grace Pallazola; brother, Salvatore Aiello and his wife Rose; sisters-in-law, Irene Denaro of Washingtonville, N.Y. and Gloria Mineo of Salem; brothers-in-law, Nicolas Mineo and his wife Carol of Carlisle, PA, Joseph Puccio of Gloucester and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter of 10 months, Maria Aiello; brother, John Aiello; sister, Mary Parisi; brothers-in-law, Frank Militello, Joseph Piscitello, James Curcuru, Philip Denaro, Anthony Curreri, Santo Mineo; sisters-in-law, Lena Aiello, Lucy Curreri; mother and father-in-law, Francesco P. and Giulia Mineo.
ARRANGEMENTS: His Funeral will be held from the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester on Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 9:45 a.m. followed by a Mass in St. Ann's Church, Holy Family Parish at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Visiting hours in the Greely Funeral Home are on Monday (Today) from 4 - 8 p.m. The burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.
