Gloucester — The funeral service for Mr. Herbert J. Joseph Jr., 87, husband of Helen (Slattery) Joseph of Gloucester, was held from the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 9:45 a.m. A funeral mass was celebrated in St. Ann’s Church, Holy Family Parish at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Matthew Green, Pastor of St. Ann’s Church, Holy Family Parish officiated.
The organist was LuAnn Pallazola and the soloist was Thomas Misuraca who sang the hymns, “We Will Rise Again”, “On Eagle’s Wings” and “Let There Be Peace On Earth”. The scripture readings were given by his niece, Lori Thorstensen and nephew, David Dolloff. The offertory gifts were brought to the altar by his sons, David and Scott Joseph. Words of remembrance were given by his son, David Joseph.
The pallbearers were nephews, Richard Jabba, Ronald Jabba, Gary Joseph, Steven Joseph, Mark Joseph, Greg Stevens, Jamie Chidiac and Paul Matta.
The burial was held in Calvary Cemetery, where the prayers were read by Rev. Matthew Green. Military Honors were rendered at the cemetery by the U.S. Army Air Corp. and the flag was presented to his wife, Helen.
On Friday afternoon, Rev. Green conducted a scripture service at the funeral home.
