William P. Crossen Sr., 88


Essex — William “Bill” Patrick Crossen, 88, husband of the late Betty Ann Marshall Crossen, of Essex, passed away on Monday, January 28, 2013, at the Beverly Hospital. Born in Brighton, on April 4, 1924, he was the son of the late William and Ellen (Kane) Crossen.

He was a graduate of Brighton High School and the Wentworth Institute of Technology. Bill had served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He had worked as a research and design engineer for the United Shoe Machinery Corporation in Beverly for many years before retiring. Bill loved any opportunity to be around family and friends. His Irish wit kept everyone entertained. Anyone who knew Bill would know he felt blessed to have had a long and happy life.

He is survived by his children, Eileen Crossen Egan, Mary Crossen Pizzimenti and husband, Sam, Daniel Crossen; grandchildren, Lindsey Egan, Aiison Egan, Vincent Pizzimenti and wife, Alexandra, Daniel Pizzimenti; and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves his stepchildren, Ted Marshall and wife, Victoria, Linda Marshall and husband, Ed Lim, Tracy Marshall, Peter Marshall; grandchildren, Evan Lim, Delaney Lim, Alexandra Marshall, Alison Marshall and Paige Marshall.

In addition to his beloved wife Betty, he was predeceased by his son, William P. Crossen Jr., as well as his sisters, Eileen Goulding, Mary Graham and June Burke.

ARRANGEMENTS: There are no visiting hours and his funeral service will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in the names of William Crossen Sr. and William Crossen Jr. be made to the Gloucester Fishermen’s Wives Association, 2 Blackburn Center, Gloucester, MA 01930.
