Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA — Clare (McMahon) Daly, 83, of Manchester, wife of the late Christopher Daly, passed away on the morning of Wednesday, April 10, 2013, with her loving family at her side. Clare was born in Kilmaley, County Clare, Ireland, on March 24, 1930, the daughter of the late John and Brigid (Falvey) McMahon. Clare loved her family and enjoyed them immensely. She was a devoted mom and grandmother and enjoyed attending all her grandson’s sports events. Her home was warm and welcoming and she loved making delicious Sunday dinners for all. Clare took great pleasure in listening to Irish music and loved traveling back to Ireland for many years with her family.
Clare is survived by her daughters, Maureen Boyce and her husband Thomas, of Peabody, Mass., Siobhan Daly; a son, Sean Daly and his wife, Michele, all of Manchester, Mass.; grandchildren, Josh and Kyle Boyce, of Peabody, and Joe and Chris Daly, of Manchester; sisters, Rita McMahon, of New York, Kitty Smyth, of Ireland, Ann Hickford and Eileen Leogue, both of England; brothers, Michael McMahon, of England, and Martin McMahon, of Ireland, and she leaves her two canine buddies, Max and Curley, who are missing her already. She was predeceased by her sisters, Mary Murray, Bridie O’Neill and Elsie Mulhall and a brother, Joseph McMahon.
ARRANGEMENTS: There are no visiting hours. Her memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at 9 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Church, 60 School St., Manchester, MA. Family and friends are cordially invited. Burial will be held later in her home land of Ireland. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to a charity of one’s choice.
