Gloucester, MA — Brien Kennedy, husband of Annette (Aiello) Kennedy, died as a result of catastrophic injuries sustained in a fall, on Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at Massachusetts General Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Born to the late Thomas and Barbara (Mack) Kennedy on August 6, 1938, in Gloucester, Brien was a graduate of Gloucester High School, Class of 1956.
Brien spent his entire professional career as a superintendent at Quincy Market Cold Storage, now Americold. In his retirement, he drove for Sudbay’s Car Dealership as a courtesy driver. Brien was a member of the Holy Name Society, St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Gloucester Lodge of Elks, and the VFW. He had also served in the National Guard.
In addition to his wife, Annette, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage, he is survived by his children, Barbara “Babs” Kennedy, and Thomas “Tim” Kennedy and his wife, Jennifer; the pride and joy of his life-grandchildren, Geoffrey, Sean, and Ian; his sister, Elizabeth “Beth” Kennedy; niece, Nancy and grandniece, Carly; brothers-in-law, Joseph Aiello and his wife, Catherine of Hudson, MA, Michael DiLiberti and John Aiello; sisters-in law, Grace and her husband Joseph Favazza, Marie Linquata and her companion Joseph Polizzia, Joanne Aiello and her companion Anthony Tamarindo, Felicia, Grace, and Rose Aiello; many nieces and nephews; long-time family friends, Sharon Murphy, Spike and Gert Pretzler and friends too numerous to even try to mention.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers-in-law, Anthony “Nutzie” Aiello, Thomas and wife Emily Aiello, Michael Aiello, Louis Linquata, and Louis Aiello; sisters-in-law, Josephine (Aiello) DiLiberti, Patricia Aiello and his father and mother in-law, John and Calogera "Lillie" Aiello.
Those who knew Brien will remember him as always having a smile on his face and a kind word. His generosity was limitless and those of us blessed to have had him in our lives are forever grateful.
