North Reading — Donald S. “Moose” Anderson, 62, a lifelong resident of North Reading, died on Friday, November 1, 2013, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, after a long illness.
Born in Melrose, Mass., on March 9, 1951, he was the son of the late John and Lucia (Frazee) Anderson. He attended North Reading Public Schools and was a graduate of North Reading High School, Class of 1970. Don worked for the Atlantic Super Value in North Reading, and for many years, at the General Electric Aircraft Engines in Lynn.
He was a member of the Hillview Country Club and the North Reading Moose Lodge, where he worked part time as a bartender.
Don had many friends who he kept entertained with his funny stories. He had some very special friends, Richard, Michael and Buddy, and all the people where he lived. He loved cooking for friends and family, and traveling to Purity Springs Resort in New Hampshire. Don loved sports, dogs and music, especially Frank Sinatra.
Family members include his loving twin sister, Darlene Anderson Garrett and her husband, Gardner, of Rockport; their children, Carl Garrett and his wife, Catherine, of Beverly, and Victoria Halmen and her husband, John, of Georgetown; very special grandnieces, Lila and Julia; and grandnephew, John. He was the brother of the late Philip Anderson.
Memorial donations may be made in his memory to Hospice of the North Shore and Greater Boston, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923 c/o Kaplan Family Hospice House.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral service will be held at the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading, on Wednesday, November 6, at 11 a.m. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in North Reading.
