Gloucester, MA — Mildred Pauline Scola, 94, of Gloucester, Mass., beloved wife of the late Jerome Scola, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2013, surrounded by her loving family, at Golden Living Center, Gloucester. Millie Chiancola was born in Boston on April 21, 1919, to Mary Gagliano and Samuel Chiancola. Millie became a meticulous sewer at a very young age, and worked as a stitcher for Universal Coat, and later for Mighty Mac in Gloucester for many years. Millie taught evening classes in doll making at Gloucester High School. Millie donated dolls to raise money for the Special Olympics. Her interests in arts and crafts were insurmountable. Millie was a very talented crafts woman. She was an expert quilter and sewer. Millie was very artistic in painting with watercolors and drawing with charcoal. Her talents in arts and crafts grew throughout the years with her making handmade gifts for her family. She continued her interest in crafts well into her 90s. She was a member of the Madonna Del Rosario Society for many years, and was a parishioner of the Holy Family Parish. She had a great love for her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Josephine Brooks (Scola), wife of Frank Brooks, MaryLouise, wife of Matthew Settipani, all of Gloucester; her sons, Thomas Scola, husband of Mary of Newport Richey, Fla., Samuel Scola, husband of Mary of Westbrook, Maine; 10 grandchildren, Jeanine MacDonald, wife of Sandy, William and Michele Brooks, all of Gloucester, Jerome John Scola and Maria Wescott of Freeport, Maine, Annemarie Scola, wife of Edward Viviani of Hamilton Way, N.J., Thomas John Scola Jr., of Gloucester, Samuel J. Scola Jr. of Biddeford, Maine, Melissa Settipani-Rier and her partner, Stacey Rier of Framinghan, Mass., Matthew Settipani Jr., fiancé of Eryn Duffy of Concord, N.H.; six great-grandchildren, Alex and Melanie MacDonald of Gloucester, Nicholas and Gregory Viviani of Hamilton Way, N.J., Oren and Teagan Scola of Freeport, Maine; her brother, Samuel Chiancola, husband of Loreen of Bonita Springs, Fla.; and sister, Anna Holmes of Worcester, Mass.; her in-laws, Rosemarie Chiancola of Worcester, Mass., Peter Scola, Vincie Gounaris, Mary Scola, all of Gloucester, and many nieces and nephews. Millie was predeceased by her husband, Jerome (Jerry), and grandson, Jeremy Frank Brooks, and her siblings, Rose Bertolino, Charles Chiancola, Sally Piscitello; inlaws, Anthony Bertolino, John Piscitello, Joan Chiancola, Frank Holmes, Anna, Paul, Joseph, Ginny, Samuel, and Thomas Scola, Arthur Gounaris, Stephanie and Dominic Spinola, Rose and Anthony Frontiero.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 5, 11:00 a.m., in St. Ann’s Church, Holy Family Parish, Gloucester, with visiting hours held before the Mass from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St. Gloucester.
