Rockport, MA — Doris (MacIsaac) Neal, 79, of Rockport, wife of Charles S. Neal, passed away unexpectedly on Friday evening, June 29, 2012 at the Beverly Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Gloucester on March 29, 1933, daughter of the late John and Delphina (Madruga) MacIsaac.
She attended St. Ann’s and Gloucester High Schools.
Doris was employed many years at Fabet Fisheries, First National Store and later as the head chambermaid at Sandy Bay Motor Inn.
She and her husband enjoyed many trips to Marco Island, Florida, Atlantic City and Foxwoods.
Doris enjoyed her flower garden, playing cards with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and knitting and making braided rugs with her mother-in-law, Martha.
She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Charles S. Neal of Rockport; 2 daughters, Linda Hurley and her husband Brian of Danville, NH and Laura Neal of Rockport; her son, Charles S. Neal Jr. of Portsmouth, NH; 6 grandchildren, April and Gregory Hurley both of Danville, NH, J.D. Neal of Rockport, Caitlin Neal and her fiancé Matthew Sholds of Gloucester, Kristin and Rachel Neal both of Rockport; 4 great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Julia, Khloe Sholds-Neal all of Gloucester and Jacy Hurley of Danville, NH; two sisters, Frances Grier and Natalie Landergren both of Rockport; her sisters-in-law, Adelaide Williams and her husband Donald of Concord, MA and Nancy Blackstone of Wakefield, MA; brother-in-law, Arthur Neal of Rockport and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Herbert, John, Russell and Alfred MacIsaac and sisters, Marjorie Smith, Edith Sargent, Dorothy Conrad and Esther Olson.
ARRANGEMENTS: A Graveside Service will be held at a later date and a small gathering will be held at the family home. There will be no visiting hours.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Michael Smith Fireman Fund, c/o Ted Twombly, at TD Bank, 2 Harbor Loop, Gloucester, MA 01930. Her great nephew, Michael Smith, is a Gloucester Firefighter battling cancer. All funds will go to benefit his family.
