Gloucester, MA — Fara Teresa (Curreri) Delisi, 86, of Gloucester, wife of the late Giuseppe Delisi passed away on Monday, June 25, 2012.
She was born in Sciacca, Sicily, Italy on April 16, 1926, daughter of the late Lorenzo and Antonina (DiPaola) Curreri.
Fara more commonly known as Teresa settled in Gloucester, MA where she raised her seven children.
Teresa was an amazingly kind and caring person, who always had a smile for you. The heart and soul of her life was her seven children and numerous grandchildren that she loved to care for by filling their stomachs with arancini’s, pasta with the sauce, meatballs, popcorn and not to mention her famous peanut butter chocolate chip cookies.
In her later years, she found a great love for knitting and sewing and never passed up an adventure whether it was a trip to an amusement park or simply shopping. Her light hearted spirit will be truly missed. She was always the light in the room.
She is survived by 7 children, Maria and Salvatore Taormina, Vito and Antonella Delisi, Lorenzo and Mary “Peggy” Delisi, Vincenzo Delisi and fiancé Donna Toppan, Antonio and Stephanie Delisi, Roberto Delisi and Julie Silva, Caterina Sanfilippo and Antonino Sanfilippo; grandchildren, Stephanie Cote, Frank and Carla, Joseph and Michelle, Salvatore and Trisha Taormina, Giuseppe, Calogero, Alessandro and fiancé Jessica Legendre and Massimo Delisi, Teresa and husband Joseph Morgan, Joseph and Christopher Delisi, Daniella and Joseph Delisi, Nicholas Delisi, Calogero Carlo, Marco and Celia Sanfilippo;Great Grandchildren, Derek Cote, Jessica, Nicholas, Kayla, Andrew, Hailey and Camryn Taormina and Great Great Granddaughter, Madison Griffin; sisters, Amelia Rita Curreri, Maria Giarratano and brother Calogero and Vittoria Curreri, all of Sciacca, Italy; sisters-in-law, Rosaria Evola and Rose Delisi, both of Michigan and numerous nieces and nephews in Michigan, Florida and Italy.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held from the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St, Gloucester, on Friday, June 29 at 9:45 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Ann’s Church at 10:30 a.m. Family and friends are cordially invited.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
The burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery.
