Gary H. Rust, 57, died unexpectedly, Friday, March 9, 2012, at his home in Annisquam.
Born in Melrose on May 2, 1954, he was the loving son of Doris L. (Hart) Rust of Annisquam and the late Howard E. Rust. He had resided in Danvers for many years before moving to Annisquam ten years ago, where he had summered for many years. Gary was a graduate of Reading High School class of 1972, attended Worcester Poly Technical Institute and received an Engineering Degree at the University of Massachusetts – Lowell. He had also received a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Western New England College.
Gary was employed as an engineer, designing electric heaters at Hotwatt in Danvers since 1977. An avid boater, he was happiest while cruising the Annisquam River and Ipswich Bay. He also loved his dogs, “Smokey,” “Kim,” “Katie” and “Kirby.”
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his aunt, Constance Phelps of San Antonio, TX; his many cousins, Sandy Phelps of TX, Susan McNerney of WI, Barbara and Lois Burns, both of Peabody, Nancy Baran of IL, Cynthia Ross and Jennifer Ross, both of FL, Susan Ross of VA, Tim Ross of CO, Bill Ross of NC, Cecily Baran of CT, Bill Rust, Judy Burrell, Deborah Rust and Jim Rust, all of CA, Barbara Mee of NH, Patricia Joyce of NY and Jack Nemensky of Southboro; his former spouse, Linda (Bromberg) Rust of Essex and his companion, Michele Heath of Middleton. He was also predeceased by his uncle, William Rust and a cousin, Mariana Baran.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral service will be held on Saturday in the Annisquam Village Church, 820 Washington St., Gloucester, at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Friday in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester, from 4–7 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
