Salem — Elizabeth “Betty” (Dauphinee) Palamara, 76, of Salem, passed away, surrounded by her family, Sunday, May 20, 2012, in the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers, following a brief illness. She was the loving wife of Joseph Palamara, longtime owner of Joe’s Auto Laundry, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage.
Born in Salem she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Katherine (Welch) Dauphinee and was a resident of Salem all of her life. Betty attended St. Mary’s grammar school and graduated from Salem High School. Betty had been employed for many years as an office manager for Empire Clothing.
A communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church, Salem, she had been a member of the church since her childhood. Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister and she will be deeply missed by her family.
Surviving her in addition to her husband is a son Joseph L. Palamara of Salem; a daughter Sharon Gilardi and her husband Michael of Gloucester; a brother John Dauphinee of Hollywood, Fla.; three grandchildren, Kevin Palamara of Marblehead, Christopher Palamara of Beverly and Katie Palamara of Salem. Betty was also the mother of the late Lawrence Palamara and sister of the late Eleanor Dauphinee.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held from the David H. Gonet Funeral Home, 22 Hawthorne Blvd., Salem, on Thursday at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, Salem at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited.
