Shrewsbury, MA — Harriette L. (Hodgdon) Lingaitis, 95, long time Shrewsbury resident, died Monday, June 4, 2012 after an extended illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Lingaitis, to whom she was married for forty-two years. Harriette was born and raised in Gloucester, MA, the daughter of the late George H. and Mary E. (Burke) Hodgdon. She married in 1941, and in 1946 moved to Shrewsbury, MA where she lived for more than sixty years.
Harriette is survived by her two daughters, Karen Sheldrick and her husband, Radley of Westborough, MA, and Janet Taunton-Rigby and her husband, Roger of Dover, MA. She leaves four grandchildren, Jennifer Sheldrick and her husband, Joseph Sain of Tyngsboro, MA, Christopher Sheldrick and wife, Meghan of Brookline, MA, Heather Mustard Lovett and her husband, Robert of Manchester-by-the- Sea and Lindsay Mustard Murray and her husband, Scott of Waltham, MA. In addition, she leaves behind six great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers; William P. and George Hodgdon, both of Gloucester, MA, and four sisters; Katherine Cleaves of Jefferson, ME, Muriel Gibbs of West Gloucester, MA, Edna Perry of Magnolia, MA, and Esther Hodgdon of Gloucester, MA.
She was a faithful member of St. Mary's Parish in Shrewsbury, MA where she belonged to the Jet Set Group and the former Catholic Women’s' League. Harriette had many creative hobbies including drawing, painting, knitting, and needlepoint. She also loved to dance and enjoyed gardening.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Harriette's family on Thursday, June 7, 2012 from 9:30-10:30 AM in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., Shrewsbury (please visit, www.brittonfuneralhomes.com). A funeral Mass celebrating her life will commence at 11:00 AM in St. Mary's Church, 640 Main St., Shrewsbury. Burial will be in the family lot in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.
