Leo J. Linquata, 79


Spring Hill, FL — Leo J. Linquata, 79, husband of the late Pauline (Scola) Linquata, died on February 18, 2013, in Spring Hill, Fla.

Leo was born in Gloucester, Mass., on September 26, 1933, to the late Luigi and Mamie (Scola) Linquata. He graduated from Gloucester High School in 1953, and was a member of the Fighting Fisherman football team. He married Pauline F. Scola on August 8, 1964. Pauline recently passed away on November 24, 2012.

Leo was a commercial fisherman known to many of his friends and family by the nickname “Mop.” Among the many colorful side jobs he held away from fishing, included bartending at the Old Timers Tavern and House of Mitch. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the St. Peter’s Club, St. Ann Church and served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1962.

He is survived by his son, Louis Keith and wife, Julie, of Philadelphia, Pa.; daughter, Judy of Spring Hill; son-in-law, Glenn Barnes; and grandchildren, Kylie Barnes, Eric Barnes, Thomas Barnes, Michael Linquata, Will Linquata, Charlie Linquata; and great-grandchild, Evangelina Danese.

He is also survived by his sisters Nina Conti and her husband, Paul, Catherine “Katie” Mitchell; and brother Thomas J. Linquata and his wife, Josephine, all of Gloucester; as well as numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

He was predeceased by his sisters, Rose Consiglio and her husband, Frank, Vincie “Gingi” Imbruone and her husband, John; his brothers, Joseph P. Linquata and his wife, Rose, Salvatore “Sam” Linquata and his wife, Mary, and Michael Linquata and his wife, Frances.

ARRANGEMENTS: A Memorial Mass will be held for Leo and Pauline in St. Ann’s Church on Saturday, August 10, at 10 a.m. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend.

A scholarship has been set up in Leo and Pauline’s names at St. Ann’s School.
