Gloucester, MA — Mario Spinelli, 54, of Gloucester, husband of Joan Cotto, passed away in Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington on Tuesday, August 13, 2013, with his loving family at his side. Mario was born in Avellino, Italy on September 18, 1958, the son of the late Vincenzo and Giovanna (Ferrante) Spinelli. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Joan; and his beloved cat, “Slate Spinelli”; a brother, Anthony Spinelli and his wife, Cathi, of Swampscott; three sisters, Rachel Catino and her husband, Tony, of East Boston, Maria Ruggiero and her husband, Richard, of Peabody, Rosetta Spinelli of East Boston; a very special friend, John Genest of Gloucester; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Susan DiLisi and his brother, Michael Spinelli.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held from the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St., Gloucester, Mass., on Saturday, August 17, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Ann’s Church, Holy Family Parish at 10:30 a.m. Family and friends are cordially invited. Burial will be held in Harmony Grove Cemetery, 30 Grove St., Salem, Mass.
