Mary E. “Betty” (Love-Bursaw) Riley, 91, of Gloucester, wife of the late Charles W. “Bucky” Riley, passed away on Sunday morning, March 11, 2012 at the Golden Living Center.
She was born in Boston, MA on May 10, 1920, daughter of the late Frederick and Bessie (Love) Bursaw.
She was a member of St. Ann’s High School, Class of 1938.
Mary enjoyed spending time with her family and she was proud of her Irish heritage.
She had a great love for animals, particularly her favorite dog, Fiona.
She was very kind and friendly and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son, Timothy Riley and his wife Marilyn of Rowley, MA; four grandchildren, Daniel Riley and his wife Heather of Chatham, NJ, Patrick Riley of Rowley, MA, Darryl Riley and his wife Donna of Gloucester and Kimberly Riley of Gloucester; five great-grandchildren, Brendan Riley of Chatham, NJ, Ashley Towne, Crystal Riley, Sean Riley and Kevin Riley all of Gloucester and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by two sons, C. Patrick Riley and Michael Riley; her sister, Alice Malone and her brother, William Bursaw.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Ann’s Church, Holy Family Parish on Wednesday, March 14, at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
The burial will be held in Beechbrook Cemetery, Gloucester.
A visiting hour will precede the Mass on Wednesday in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the Cape Ann Animal Aid Association, 260 Main Street, Gloucester, MA 01930.
