Charles V. McIntosh, age 98 of Salt Island Road, died March 9, 2012 following a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Jane J. (Adamowicz) McIntosh who died in 1983. They were married in 1939. Charles was born in Gloucester on February 19, 1914 to the late Mary B. Moody and George Clark McIntosh. He was a graduate of Gloucester High School, Class of 1933. In his working years, "Charlie", as he was know to many, was a skilled carpenter in the Gloucester area and built and remodeled many homes on Cape Ann during his lifetime. Charlie was a volunteer for twelve and a half years for the Meals on Wheels in Gloucester after his retirement and totally enjoyed his efforts to help others. He will best be remembered for his love of the Gloucester High School Athletic Teams, their achievements and championships. In 1965 Charlie accompanied the GHS Hockey Team to Lake Placid, NY which became one of his fondest memories. He is survived by four daughters, Sandra Kelley of Bradenton, FL, Mary Ann Urella and her husband Michael of Worcester, MA, Kathleen and Theresa McIntosh of Gloucester and his dear daughter #5, Roberta Seppala of Lanesville. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and four great-grand children and by many devoted friends. Charlie was predeceased by his dear friend and companion Phyllis Downing of Gloucester.
ARRANGEMENTS: At the family's request, there will be no visiting hours and burial will be private. Expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory as donations to the Gloucester Fishermen's Athletic Association, Newell Stadium, PO Box 3010, Gloucester, MA 01930.
