Gloucester, MA — Helen W. (Woodall) Blanchard, 93, of Gloucester, wife of the late William E. Blanchard Jr., passed away on Wednesday evening, July 10, 2013, at the Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born in Clinton, Ill., on November 11, 1919, daughter of the late Hal and Claudia (Weatherholt) Woodall and graduated from Clinton High School, Class of 1937.
While working as a civilian employee at Chanute Field in Illinois during World War II, she met and married William E. Blanchard, Jr., who was a Captain in the U.S. Army Air Corps and stationed at Chanute. They moved to Gloucester when the war ended to live and raise their family.
Helen is survived by her children, Julia A. Dailey and her husband, James, of Gloucester and William E. Blanchard III and his wife, Sandra Petschulat, of Derry, N.H.; five grandchildren, Jennifer Sayed and her husband, Moin, of Methuen, Mass., Diana Klopotoski of Gloucester, Rebecca Dailey-Hennessey and her husband, Nicholas, of Chelmsford, Mass., Amy and C.J. Blanchard, both of Derry, N.H.; six great-grandchildren, Marwa, Bilal, Ibrahim, Mohammed Sayed, Zachary Klopotoski and Kevin Hennessey; her sister, J. Ruth Leggett and her husband, N. Eugene, and their family of Plainfield, Ill.
ARRANGEMENTS: A graveside service will be held privately.
