Whitefield, NH — David N. Mitchell, 60, formerly of Essex, died Tuesday, June 5, 2012 in the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH following an extended illness. He was the husband of Christine (Nickerson) Mitchell.
Born in Gloucester on December 10, 1951, he was the son of William J. and his wife, Dorothy of Long Beach Island, NJ and the late June C. (Adams) Mitchell. A 1971 graduate of Gloucester High School, David had resided in Essex for many years before moving to Rockport in 1982 and to Whitefield, NH eleven years ago.
David was employed at Seacoast Nursing Home in Gloucester for several years. He was also once employed at the former Seafood Kitchens in Gloucester for many years. He enjoyed camping and was an avid New England sports fan. He was affectionately known as a kind hearted gentle giant.
In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by his son, Noel W. and his wife Amy (Salles) Mitchell of Gloucester; his daughter, Caeli C. Mitchell of Denver, CO; two stepsons, Dennis Nickerson and Ryan Donovan both of Berlin, NH; four grandchildren, Tristen and Cassandra Mitchell and Ashley and Sean Donovan; three brothers, William J. Mitchell of Essex, Bruce W. Mitchell of Sandwich and Michael E. Mitchell and his wife, Kelly Brown-Mitchell of Gloucester and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 9th in the Spring Street Cemetery, Essex at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the charity of one’s choice.
