Rockport, MA — William J. McCormack, 84, husband of Madeline J. (Neves) McCormack, of Rockport, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2013, at the Addison Gilbert Hospital.
Born in Gloucester on July 30, 1929, he was the son of the late Richard I. and Hazel B. (Simmons) McCormack.
Bill had attended Gloucester schools and had served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1949.
He had worked as a machinist for several North Shore shops and later at Gloucester Engineering for over 20 years before retiring.
In his spare time, Bill enjoyed vegetable gardening and was an avid golfer, having been a member of the Rockport Golf Club and later at the Bass Rocks Golf Club.
He also enjoyed taking long walks with his Beagles through Dogtown and more recently along the Rockport waterfront. From the time of his childhood, Bill was always known to have a beagle.
In addition to his wife, Madeline, he is survived by his son, Jeffrey McCormack and his wife, Terry, of Port Orange, FL; his daughter, Toni Rowe and her husband, Mark, of Rockport; grandchildren, Adam McCormack of Port Orange, Matthew McCormack of Brooklyn, NY, Rachel Rowe and Madeline Rowe of Rockport; sister-in-law, Lila Victorine; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers, John Victorine, Richard, Warren and Robert McCormack.
