Gloucester, MA — Mrs. Grace A. (Lucido) Parisi, age 92 years, a longtime resident of Gloucester, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday afternoon, July 20, 2012 at Addison Gilbert Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Benedetto “Benny” Parisi. Born in Detroit, Michigan, she was the dear daughter of the late Joseph and Antonina (Orlando) Lucido. After her parents passed away when she was five, she was adopted by her sister and brother-in-law, Crucificia “Josephine” and Salvatore Favazza and moved to Gloucester to live with them and their family.
Grace was an active member and volunteer of the Gloucester Senior Center. She was also a member of the Madonna Del Rosario Society, St. Peter’s Sodality Club and the Retirees of the Gloucester Fisheries.
Mrs. Parisi was extremely dedicated to her faith and to her church; she was a communicant of the former St. Peter’s Church in East Gloucester and later attended mass at Our Lady of Good Voyage Church. In her later years, when she was unable to go to church, she enjoyed watching mass on television, especially the Christmas vigil service.
Grace loved being with her family and was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She welcomed everyone into her home, enjoyed cooking every Sunday and her weekly shopping trips with her special sisters and also with her daughter, Anita. She was an avid traveler, bingo player and loved to dance. She was named and known as “Nana Cookies” by all her grandchildren and wore the title proud. Grace also loved her grandchildren’s friends as if they were her own and cherished her visits with them. Nana Cookies was a beautiful, special and strong woman and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Surviving her are two devoted daughters, Gail (Parisi) Goodhue and her husband Allan III “Doc” with whom she resided with and Anita (Parisi) Beloff and her husband Bob all of Gloucester; two devoted sons, Salvatore “Sandy” Parisi and his wife Diane (Thibedeau) of Bristow, VA and Frank Parisi and his wife Susan (Tierney) of Rockport; ten cherished grandchildren, Wendy Aurentz and her husband Craig of Hernden, VA, Kristen Brittigan and her husband Robert of Manasses, VA, Ben Allan Goodhue and his fiancée Sarah Harrington of Danvers, Stacy Sabia and her husband Augustave of Beverly, Jillian Smerage and her husband Roger of Salem, Peter Goodhue and his fiancé Rich LaBlue of Malden, Christopher Hayes of Santa Monica, CA, Benjamin Parisi of Gardner, Brian Parisi of FL and Bethany Parisi of Gloucester, seven dear great grandchildren, Robbie, Zachary, Hailey, Renee, Corey, Kiersten and her namesake, Emme Grace; five special sisters and brother, who fondly called her “Auntie”, Joseph Favazza and his wife Grace, Grace Davis and her husband Dickie, Betty Ciulla, Jaja Pramas and her husband Peter all of Gloucester and Pat Imperato and her husband Philip of Revere; a brother-in-law, Anthony Parisi and his wife Diane of Gloucester and two sisters-in-law, Nina Favazza of Gloucester and Virginia Parisi of Gloucester. She was the adored aunt of many nieces and nephews and had a large extended family in Michigan as well as in Gloucester.
Grace was predeceased by her loving brothers, Frank, John and Sam Lucido, her dear sisters, Crocefissa Favazza, Patrina Pica and Catherine Becco, her special brother, Mike Favazza, her special sister, Nina Benson; her brother-in-law, James Ciulla and Louie Benson and her son-in-law, Alphonsus Hayes III.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held from the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester on Monday, July 23 at 8:45 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church on Monday at 9:30 a.m. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.
