William Markham, 65

Acworth, NH — William Markham, 65, of Keyes Hollow Road, died Tuesday, June 25, at his home. Mr. Markham was born in Stafford Springs, Conn., on October 25, 1947, the son of Frederick and Betty (Carlson) Markham. He was a graduate of Essex Agi in Middleton, Mass., and worked as a lumberman in the Acworth area. Mr. Markham was an avid hunter.

On April 12, 1997 in Topsfield, Mass., he married Irene Fernett who survives. Also surviving are his parents of Hampden, Mass.; his stepchildren, Billy Garrow of Athens, Vt., Tom Garrow of Bellows Falls, Vt., and Sherry Farnsworth of Acworth; his brothers, Donald Markham of Marietta, Ga., and Fred Markham of Langdon, N.H.; his sisters, Deborah Kuffel of Marlow, N.H., and Melanie Tyack of Essex, Mass.; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who he loved very much. He is predeceased by his brother, Richard Markham.

ARRANGEMENTS: There will be calling hours from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, June 29, with the funeral service beginning at 12 p.m. at Fenton & Hennessey Funeral Home in Bellows Falls, Vt., burial to follow the service.

Friends and family are invited to a gathering following the burial at the home of Rachel and Herman Riendeau, 191 Hemlock Road, Langdon, N.H.

Lucretia was born in Gloucester, on May 19, 1936, the daughter of the late Dominic and Kathleen (Sheehan) DeYoung. She graduated from Gloucester High School. She married Edward Wright, and was married for 35 years. They raised their children and during that time they spent the winters in Florida and traveled the world with them. They were very active in their grandchildren’s lives and activities. Edward passed away in 1995. She later met Peter V. Asaro, fell in love and married him and they had been together for 15 years.

He loved growing and nurturing vegetables, particularly chilies, garlic and onions, and flowers, especially his beloved sunflowers. Birdsong and the light on leaves, all of nature, brought him great joy. Another deep pleasure was his days hiking in the Southwest – the Grand and Havasupai Canyons, the Four Corners area, the high desert around Flagstaff; he loved it all as well as the native people who lived here.

In 1934, she married George Hindy and they moved to Boston where they raised their five children. "Rosie" was the sweetest, most precious little lady with nothing but kind words always and was never judgmental.
