Donald J. Patrican, 69


Franklin Lakes, NJ — Don Patrican died peacefully at home Feb. 3, 2013. He still holds the basketball all-time career scoring record for Gloucester High School, achieving All-American status in 1961. He played for University of Miami in Florida, graduating in 1967.

Don was a talented consumer electronics executive, reaching the peak of his career as Executive Vice President of Maxell Corporation, where he also served on the Board of Directors. The American Jewish Committee awarded him the 1994 Human Relations Award; industry peers named him Best of ’98 Dealerscope Hall of Fame, and he received the Patricia Rienzi Legacy Award from the National Consumer Technology Industry Anti-Defamation League in 2007. Don sat on the Consumer Electronics Association’s Board of Industry Leaders, International Mass Retailers Association and International Recording Media Association.

Don asked to be remembered as a "good husband, good father, good friend." His family and friends will remember Don as bigger than life, not only regarding his 6-foot, 7-inch frame, but also because of his talents, professional and personal, his love of family, his loyalty, and his wonderful sense of humor.

Don is survived by his wife, Jeanne (nee Mattie), his son, Julian of New York City, and his brother, David of Port Ritchie, Fla.
