Mr. Francis J. Leveille died Tuesday, April 17th, at home in Essex surrounded by his loving family, he was 79. Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late Joseph and Hilma (Hammer) Leveille. He served his nation honorably in the US Army during the Korean War as a sergeant assigned to the tank division. When he returned home he participated in the testing and development of the “A” bomb in Nevada. The beloved husband of Cynthia (Abbott) Leveille, together the couple shared 57 years of marriage. In retirement Francis enjoyed tending to his gardens and was an avid golfer.
In addition to his wife Cynthia, he is survived by his children: Lori DiAnni and her husband Michael, Wayne Leveille and his wife Christine, Heidi Ramsdell and her husband Perry, Sherri Leveille Graham and Andrew Leveille; his eight grandchildren: Valerie, Kayla, Jaclyn, Kyle, Kameron, Trenton, Tyler and Justin; a great-grandson Jackson; his sisters: Josephine Fassio and Barbara Kelleher; and a brother-in-law Bruce Abbott and his wife Sylvia. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. John the Baptist Church, Main St. Essex, on Saturday, April 21st at 11AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held in the Campbell-Lee, Moody Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, North Beverly, from 9AM to 10 AM prior to the mass. Burial will follow at Spring Street Cemetery.
