Sally J. (Chiancola) Piscitello, 98, of 10 Commonwealth Avenue, Gloucester, passed away at the Golden Living Center, Gloucester on 12:59 p.m. , Wednesday, April 18, 2012.
She was born in Canton, MA. on September 28, 1913, daughter of the late Salvatore and Mary (Gagliano) Chiancola.
Sally had a very wonderful life along with her husband John. They travelled all over the world and had a very good time. They later bought a home in Vero Beach, Florida and lived there for 10 years. They came back to Gloucester in the summer time and went back to Florida for the winter.
Sally loved to buy the best clothes and loved to dress up and go places. One year, she won best dressed prize for Easter.
In the early 1950s, she was elected President of the St. Peter’s Women’s Auxiliary when at the time they had 150 members. Some of its policies are to assist the St. Peter’s Club in their annual Fiesta and to participate in all community projects. She remained President of the St. Peter’s Women’s Auxiliary for many years and was also a long time member of the Madonna del Rosario Society.
Sally is survived by her son Samuel J. Piscitello and his wife Josephine of Gloucester; four grandchildren, Charles J. Piscitello and wife Darlean, Ronald A. Piscitello and wife Rebecca, John R. Piscitello and Lori Piscitello of Lee, N.H.; six great grandchildren, Joleen A. Zubek of New York, Alexandra Piscitello, Isabella Piscitello, Devin Piscitello, Alee Piscitello and Kaylee Piscitello, all of Gloucester; her brother Samuel Chiancola and wife Lorene of Florida; two sisters, Millie Scola of Gloucester, Anna Homes of Worcester; sisters-in-law Rosemarie Chiancola of Worcester, Frances Piscitello and husband Alfred, Millie Gentile and husband Rosario, Pauline Piscitello and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband John, she was predeceased by her son Charles “Chuckie” Piscitello; a brother Charles Chiancola; and a sister Rose Bertolino.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held from the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St., Gloucester, on Monday, April 23rd at 10:45 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Ann’s Church on Monday at 11:30 a.m. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
The burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery.
