Gloucester, MA — Katherine A. “Kit” (Barry) Abrahamson, 105, of Gloucester, wife of the late James Abrahamson passed away on Friday afternoon, February 15, 2013 at the Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Gloucester, MA on March 5, 1907, daughter of the late Michael and Bridget (O’Halloran) Barry. Kit was employed at Addison Gilbert Hospital as a nurse’s aide then as a Clerk for the State House in Boston, having retired when she was 70 years old. She attended Miss Tina’s School of Dance, where she loved line dancing and had participated in Miss Tina’s recitals for over 40 years. Kit never went anywhere without being impeccably dressed, everything always had to match just so. She also enjoyed knitting and was an avid reader. She enjoyed traveling and gambling with family and friends. Kit will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Santos and her husband Joseph of St. Petersburg, FL and Janice Hurst and her husband James of Gloucester; four grandchildren, James Hurst and his companion Lise Witcher, Keri Russo and her husband Peter, Bethany Hurst and her companion Brett O’Neal and Jill Maguire and her companion John Naves all of Gloucester; four great-grandchildren, Katie, Emily, Megan and Peter Russo all of Gloucester; her brother, Joseph Barry and his wife Sebina of New Hampshire and her very good friend, Joan Sikorski of Gloucester and by many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by six brothers, James, Patrick, Michael, William, John and Richard Barry; six sisters, Eleanor Barry, Margaret Barrett, Cecila Daley, Ann Wood, Agnes Balestraci and Elizabeth Collins.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held from the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St., Gloucester on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 9:45 a.m. followed by a Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Holy Family Parish at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Visiting hours in the Greely Funeral Home are on Tuesday from 4 – 8 p.m. The burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester. Online condolences may be given at www.greelyfuneralhome.com
