Gloucester, MA — Jeannette (McKay) Joseph, 83, beloved wife of 63 years to John A. Joseph, of Gloucester, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family.

Born in Gloucester on July 27, 1929, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Alli (Savioja) McKay.

Jeannette was a graduate of Gloucester High School with the Class of 1947.

Jeannette’s life devotion was caring for her husband, children, grandchildren and looking after her many neighborhood friends over the years. Although she mastered the art of Lebanese cooking, reflecting traditions of her husband’s family, she kept great pride in her own Finnish heritage. She most enjoyed gatherings of family and friends for cookouts, famous for her garlic sauce and zesty salads.

In addition to her husband John, she is survived by her children, John A. Joseph Jr., of Worcester, Robert M. Joseph, of Boston, Steven D. Joseph, Michael J. Joseph, Kristine M. Joseph and Sheila J. Hruby, all of Gloucester; her grandchildren, Joanna Joseph, of Venice, Fla., Dyson and Alli Hruby, of Gloucester; her brother Robert G. McKay and wife, Nancy; cousin, Marilyn Josephson; her lifelong friend Helen Porper; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brothers John J. McKay, William F. McKay Jr. and Russell S. McKay.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Ann’s Church on Wednesday, May 1 at 10:30 a.m. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St., Gloucester.

The burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
