Marianna Giordano, 89


Gloucester — Marianna (Bommarito) Giordano, 89, wife of the late Giuseppe Giordano, of Gloucester, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at her daughter’s home surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Terrasini, Sicily on October 11, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Antonino and Giuseppa (Maniaci) Bommarito.

Marianna and Giuseppe moved to Gloucester with their daughters in 1966. She worked hard raising her family and had also worked at the former Mighty-Mac as a stitcher for 15 years. She was a devoted member of St. Ann’s Church and also longtime member of the Madonna del Rosario Society.

Marianna loved to cook for her family and was happiest when she had her whole family at her home. She was an extremely loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and her love and devotion will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her four daughters, Phyllis Taormina and her husband, Leonardo, Josephine Taormina and her husband, Joseph, Nuccia Gucciardi and her husband, Giovanni, and Franca Ventimiglia and her husband, Salvatore; grandchildren and their spouses, Stephanie and Tony Delisi, Anna and Thomas Cannilas, Phyllis and Christopher Palazzola, Lenny and Brenda Taormina, Frank and Kelly Taormina, Frank and Lori Taormina, Joseph and Susan Taormina, Anthony and Megan Taormina, Stephanie and Scott Bouchie, Dina and David Marino, Joseph and Julie Gucciardi, Jack Ventimiglia, Joseph Ventimiglia and Antonio Ventimiglia; 30 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews in Italy.

In addition to her husband, Giuseppe, she was predeceased by her siblings, Filippo Bommarito, Francesca Tocco, Rosalia Bommarito and Salvatore Bommarito.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral Mass will be held from the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester, on Thursday, May 23, the same date as the death of her husband Giuseppe, at 9:45 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery.
