Barbara Elizabeth (Stevens) Tesene, 88

Manly, Iowa — Barbara Elizabeth (Stevens) Tesene, 88, of Manly, Iowa, passed away Tuesday morning, March 19, 2013, at the Manly Nursing and Rehab Center.

Born on April 16, 1924, in Gloucester, she was the daughter of Arthur and Maud (Cook) Stevens. She graduated from Gloucester High School, Class of 1942.

She worked in the office of Cape Ann Tool Co. in Rockport, until her marriage to John Tesene. She met John in 1942 while he was serving in the Navy during World War II. They were married on May 13, 1945, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Clear Lake, Iowa, after John returned on leave from action in the Pacific Theater.

Barb was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed reading, playing cards and board games, traveling, camping, her family, and many wonderful friendships. She and John belonged to two camping clubs and spent 16 years wintering in Alamo, Texas.

Barbara was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manly, Iowa, and belonged to the Rosary Society and to St. Anne's Guild. She was a member of the Manly Study Club, a former volunteer for RSVP, the Manly Care Center and Rehab Auxiliary, and was active at the Manly Senior Center.

Left to cherish her memory are her five children, Steven Tesene of West Des Moines, Iowa, Patricia Bryant and her husband, Gene, of St. Charles, Mo., Roy Tesene and his wife, Connie, of Garner, Iowa, Kathy Kruger and her husband, Dennis, of Manly, Iowa, and Deb Holloway and her husband, Perley, of Mason City, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; a sister, Florence Cusick of Gloucester; sisters-in-law, Betty Jacobson of Clear Lake, Iowa, and Beverly Burnett and her husband, Tom, of Northfield, Minn.; brothers-in-law, Bob Roberts and his wife, Lea, of Ridgeway, Colo., and David Roberts and his wife, Karen, of Falls Church, Va.; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; daughter-in-law, Patricia Tesene; a sister, Virginia; and grandson, Scott Christeson.

ARRANGEMENTS: A Mass of Christian Burial was held, followed by her burial in the Clear Lake Cemetery in Clear Lake, Iowa.
