Captain John Wheelwright Crunden, 55


Clermont, NJ — John passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, April 7, 2013. He was the son of the late Warren and Eleanor Crunden. Born in Lawrence, N.Y., John was a resident of the Cape May area since 1978.

After studying at the University of Rhode Island, he began his career in commercial fishing. He worked on several different boats throughout the eastern seaboard. He was most recently employed by Northstar Marine Environmental.

A passionate sports fan, John volunteered for many years as a Little League umpire and worked with several local associations.

John will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Janet (Militello); two daughters, Susann Crunden and Kimberly Crunden-Pezone; son-in-law, Francesco Pezone; and brothers, Warren Crunden and Arthur Crunden. He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Barbara Meyer.

ARRANGEMENTS: Memorial services will be held on Friday, April 12, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210, where visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will be private at a later date.
