Christine Currier, 95

Bedford, N.H. — Christine Currier, 95, died peacefully January 22, 2013, at the Bedford Hills Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Hartford, Conn., on May 30, 1917, to Roy and Dorothea Doble Durkee, the third of four sisters. Schooled in Danvers, she was a graduate of Holten High School, class of 1935.

After graduation, she worked as an administrative assistant, first for the the Universalist Unitarian Church in Boston, later at Gloucester High School, and, finally, for the Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Statistics, also located in Gloucester, a city she truly loved.

She loved animals, British history, traveling, and genealogy. An Anglophile, she was a long-time member of the Churchill Society of America. She was also a member of Martha Washington Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, and served on the advisory board of Gloucester Assembly Number 41, Order of Rainbow Girls.

Predeceased by her sisters, Norma Plummer and Ruth Lane; she is survived by her daughter, Nancy Jane and her husband, David Corbett; her granddaughter, Amy Lord and her wife, Elizabeth; her sister, Doris Chapman, and several loving nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium is in charge of arrangements. Interment will be in the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody, in the spring.
