Barbara A. Redmond, 81


Gloucester — Barbara A. (Hall) Redmond, 81, of Gloucester, wife of James T. Redmond, passed away peacefully on Sunday afternoon, February 10, 2013 at the Addison Gilbert Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Gloucester on March 3, 1931, daughter of the late George and Geneva (Quinlan) Hall. Barbara was a graduate of Gloucester High School, class of 1949 and later graduated from Mass College of Art in Boston. She started her art teaching career at Central Grammar School on Dale Avenue and later moved on to teach at Fuller School and then the O’Maley School, finally retiring in 1996. Barbara and her husband, Jim, travelled extensively around the world, having met the Dalai Lama and seeing the Taj Mahal, but her favorite places were Ireland and Hawaii. They also traveled to Norway, Australia, China, Greece, Egypt, Germany, Austria and Italy. She also enjoyed cooking for her family and camping at Sebago Lake for many summers, with her granddaughters, Chris and Kelly. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, James T. Redmond of Gloucester; two sons, Eugene T. Redmond and James M. Redmond and his wife, Julie (Quinn) Redmond all of Gloucester; three grandchildren, Christina Redmond, Kelly Rowe and her husband, Scott Rowe and Kevin T. Redmond all of Gloucester; her great-grandson, Jake Rowe of Gloucester and her sister, Jean Bradford of St. Petersburg, Fla.

ARRANGEMENTS: In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visiting hours and services will be held at a later date.
