Fort Lauderdale, Fla. — David Maillette de Buy Wenniger passed away on August 30, 2012, at his home in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Born on the 29 of June, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois, David grew up in Manchester by the Sea, and graduated from Manchester High School in 1972.
Briefly married to Lisa Bandzul, David owned the Buffum Street Grille, a successful sports bar and restaurant in Lynn, in the 1980's and early ‘90s. He received a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Boston University in 1979, and a master of science in nursing from Old Dominion University in 2000, graduating with honors. He then pursued a nursing career in critical care and anesthesia.
David was an accomplished equestrian and an avid fisherman. A wonderful host and entertainer, David's oceanfront home was always open to a steady stream of friends and family. His love of excitement, adventure, and a good tale was infectious. His warm heart and generosity will always be remembered.
He is survived by his parents, Mace and Mary Ann de Buy Wenniger of Gloucester; siblings and their spouses, Nina and Lester Fabiszewski of Virginia Beach, Anne Wenniger and Rik Ekstrom, and Susanna Wenniger and Rudd Kierstead of New York, Ian and Alexandra de Buy Wenniger of Topsfield, and Julia Wenniger and Andy Adebonojo of Tampa; as well as ten nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Jean Hindman.
