Millard Edmund Ring, of Rockport, son of John Millard Everett Ring and Edith Vivian Orr, passed away
this Friday, April 13, 2012, at Addison Gilbert Hospital in Gloucester. He passed peacefully and without pain. He leaves behind his wife, whom he loves, Julia Maria Malaquias Marnoto, of 38 years, having wed her on April 27th, 1974, his two sons, Millard Edmund Orr Ring, and Jonathan Edward Ring, and many other loving family members and friends.
Millard was born on February 23, 1944, at the Addison Gilbert Hospital in Gloucester and grew up in Rockport. He attended Rockport schools until his senior year, in which he attended and graduated from Gloucester High School. Millard entered the service of the U.S. Air Force on April 30,1965, with the rank of Airman Basic. At the time of his discharge, on April 29, 1971 he had earned an AF Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal.
Millard enjoyed meeting with friends and finding new treasures when he made frequent stops at the Transfer Station in Rockport. He was also an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan. He also liked to take trips to Portugal with his wife Julia, a Portuguese native. Millard also enjoyed many local occupations including work at Gorton's of Gloucester (where he met and fell in love with Julia Marnoto), former owner of the Sandy Bay Used Furniture Store (once located on Eastern Avenue,Gloucester), various antique auctions in the North Shore area, and most recently as a vendor, with his youngest son Jonathan, at Todd Farm Flea Market in Rowley, MA.
Millard will be remembered for his love of family and life and for being a salt of the earth kind of person one would expect from Rockport.
