OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — John A. Carter or “Jack” as he was known to family and friends left this earth on Thursday, October 10, 2013, at the Veterans Hospital in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 77. Jack was born to Austin Lelsie and Margaret Jane (MacEachern) Carter on May 1, 1936, in Gloucester, Massachusetts. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, retiring after 20 years of service. After his military career he continued his civil service career in Bio Environmental Engineering at Tinker and retired after 20 plus years. Jack loved to golf and enjoyed sailing, taking vacations with his family, and OU football. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, George and Charles Carter; and foster brothers, Joseph Muise, John and Vincent Boyle. Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Joyce M. Carter and their three adored children, John “Jay” Carter II (Regina), Jolie Carter (Deb), and Jason Carter; sister, Ann Lander (Francis); and was the proud grandfather to ten grandchildren, Amanda, Keegan, James, Jackson, Haylie, Kaden, Kelcie, Zach, Kimberly, and the youngest Boston; and a host of nieces and nephews. Jack’s family was his first priority and his greatest pride and joy.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral service will be held at the Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel on Thursday, October 17, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. Military honors will be held on Friday, October 18, 2013, 10:00 a.m. in the Ft.
