Haverhill, MA — James A. Favalora Jr., age 61, passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon, August 29, 2013, at his home in Haverhill, surrounded by the family who loved him so dearly.
Born in Gloucester, June 1, 1952, son of Lois (Kleindienst) Favalora of Essex and the late James A. Favalora, Sr., he grew up in Magnolia and attended Gloucester public schools. He graduated from Gloucester High in 1970, where he was Captain in ROTC and lettered in three sports.
After graduation, he went to work at The Colonial Country Club in the bakery dept., with his step-dad, Bob Kleindienst. He remained in the Bakery Industry for 43 years, most recently working for C&S Wholesale Grocers.
He was married for 43 years to Debra (Donohue) and raised two amazing sons, Michael and Matthew.
Jim enjoyed coaching his boys in Merrimac Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball. He coached many years in the Pentucket Youth Hockey League. He played semi-fast pitch softball for many years and then went on to become an Umpire for High School Baseball. Jim was an avid golfer and played regularly with his boys and his friends. His one regret was never getting a hole-in-one.
He was a former member of the Haverhill Elks club.
In addition to his wife and best friend, Debra of Haverhill and his Mom, Lois of Essex; he leaves behind his sons, Michael and wife, Erin, of Bradford and Matthew and wife, Kiyomi, of Las Vegas; his sisters, Marcia Gusciora of Stoughton; Pamela Normand and Karen Gwinn, both of Gloucester; his brothers in-law, Steven Donohue of Las Vegas and Kevin Donohue of Amesbury; and his sister in-law, Susan Bellerose of Bradford; along with his two mothers-in-law, Maureen Donohue of Merrimac and Janice Donohue of Port Charlotte, Fla. His pride and joy were his three grandchildren whom he loved more than anything, Reece and Quinn Favalora of Bradford and Nikko Favalora of Las Vegas; also a step-grandson, Kalani Shijoi of Las Vegas; many beautiful and talented nieces and nephews whom he adored and several aunts, uncles, cousins and many loving friends.
Jim touched many lives and will be missed by all who knew him.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours will be Tuesday, September 3, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Paul C. Rogers-Scatamacchia Funeral Home, 334 Main St., Haverhill. Interment will be private for the family.
