Gloucester, MA — Dorothy R. (Wilkins) Sargent, 83, passed peacefully after a brief illness at Beverly Hospital on September 4, 2013. Dorothy Remick was born in Weston, Mass., on November 23, 1929. “Dody” attended the Beaver Country Day School, and later the Hickox Secretarial School. She spent many happy years living in Annisquam, where she raised three children, Rebecca (Becky) Dent of Richmond, Va., David Remick Wilkins of Bremen, Maine, and Samuel H. Wilkins of Canandaigua, N.Y., all whom provided her with six grandchildren.
In recent years, Dody lived comfortably at the Harborlight House, an assisted living home in Beverly. She was the wife of the late Gloucester fireman, Raymond Dexter Sargent. Previously, she was married to Raymond S. Wilkins Jr. She is survived by her sister, Mary R. Tyler of Farmingdale, Maine; and two nephews, John W. Tyler of Readfield, Maine, and Henry Tyler of Hamden, Maine. Her late brother, John Remick, left her two other nephews, Peter Remick of Mount Vernon, Wash., and Bruce Remick of San Jose, Calif.
Dody enjoyed fast-paced walks on the area beaches, loons and crossword puzzles.
