Tewksbury — Attorney John D. “Jack” Hodges, Jr., age 67, of Tewksbury, formerly of Manchester, died at the Brigham and Woman’s Hospital in Boston, Tuesday morning, July 10, 2012.
Born in Somerville, the son of the late John Dean and Lillian (Ryan) Hodges, he was raised and educated in Newton and was graduated from Noble and Greenough, where he had played hockey. He then attended the College of the Holy Cross where he pursued his passion for hockey by establishing a club hockey team on which he played for four years. In the off-season, he stayed active in sports as the manager of the football team. He was also a lifelong dedicated Red Sox, Bruins and Patriots fan.
After receiving his Bachelors Degree in 1966, Mr. Hodges attended Suffolk Law School, received his JD in 1969 and was admitted to the Bar in 1970. He then established a private practice in Manchester. Jack always kept sports as part of his lifestyle. For many years he was an active member of the Manchester Bath and Tennis Club where he enjoyed swimming. He later relocated to Tewksbury where he has served the community professionally for several years until becoming ill.
Attorney Hodges is survived by his four children and one, grandson, John P. Hodges and his wife Rhonda of Daytona, FL, Andrew P. Hodges and his wife Jannice and their son Jacob, of Portsmouth, NH, and Crystal and Rebecca Hodges of Newburyport, a stepson Marco Hodges and his wife Jacqueline of Newburyport; his two sisters, Lillian “Cissie” and her husband Jay Carty of Marblehead and Mary Doherty of Syracuse, NY, and his close and dear friend Ann Mulcahey of Gloucester.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2012, at 8:15 AM, from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St. (corner of North Street), Salem, to be followed by a funeral Mass at 9 AM in Sacred Heart Church, 62 School St., Manchester, MA. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Friday from 4 to 7 PM in the funeral home.
