Barbara Forsley, 80

Manchester by the Sea, MA — Mrs. Barbara (Lawrence) Forsley, 80, beloved wife of Richard J. Forsley, died Monday May 6, 2013, at the Kaplan Hospice House in Danvers, Mass. Born in Nashua, N.H.; she was the daughter of the late Theodore P. and Frances (Kane) Lawrence. She was raised and educated in Hollis, N.H., and she attended Boston University.

Mrs. Forsley had worked as an insurance agent for the Hastings-Tapley Insurance Agency in Danvers, Mass, for 15 years and the Catalano Insurance Agency in Methuen Mass., before retiring in 1999. A long time Manchester by the Sea resident, Barbara enjoyed fine dining at many of the fine local restaurants and spending time attending to her flower garden. She was also known for being a very good cook.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her husband with whom she shared 56 years of marriage, she is survived by seven sons, Lawrence P. Forsley of San Diego, Calif., Bruce R. Forsley and his wife, Jennifer of Scarborough, Maine, Richard N. Forsley and his wife, Lisa of Oakland, Maine, David B. Forsley and his wife, Marianna of Vernon, Conn., Alan W. Forsley, Esq. of Los Angeles Calif., Drew T. Forsley of Lexington, Mass., and Craig S. Forsley and his wife, Giovanna of Peabody, Mass. She leaves 11 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be private. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty St., Danvers, MA, 01923. Arrangements are by the Campbell- Lee, Moody Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St., North Beverly. Information, directions, condolences may be viewed at www.campbellfuneral.com.

Birdsong and the light on leaves, all of nature, brought him great joy. Another deep pleasure was his days hiking in the Southwest – the Grand and Havasupai Canyons, the Four Corners area, the high desert around Flagstaff; he loved it all as well as the native people who lived here.

In 1934, she married George Hindy and they moved to Boston where they raised their five children. "Rosie" was the sweetest, most precious little lady with nothing but kind words always and was never judgmental.

She was born in Somerville, Mass. on Dec. 26, 1920, the daughter of the late Michael and Bridget (Hickey) Sullivan and was raised and educated there. After her marriage, she and her husband had resided in Arlington, Mass. and Hamden, Conn., before moving to Peabody 48 years ago. She had worked in her earlier years as a comptometer for First National Stores in Somerville. Mary loved to cook and the family enjoyed her famous clam dip. She also traveled with her husband and enjoyed playing Bridge and other card games. In her healthier years, she was a devout communicant of St. Ann’s Church.
