Victor V. Conigliari Jr., 80, husband of Ann C. “Nancy” Conigliari of Rockport, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 2, 2012 at the Addison Gilbert Hospital.
He was born in Rockport, MA on July 27, 1931, son of the late Victor V. and Helmi (Hyytinen) Conigliari.
Victor was a graduate of Rockport High School, Class of 1949. Following high school, he entered in the United States Navy having served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1955.
In his earlier years, he was known to be a great pitcher in baseball, having been signed on to the Detroit Tigers.
He was a member of the Rockport Golf Club, Knights of Columbus, the Edward Peterson Post 98, Rockport American Legion and the Gloucester Lodge of Elks 892.
Victor enjoyed gardening, walking and just being outdoors. He also loved watching his grandchildren at all of their sporting events. He and his wife Nancy did a lot of travelling to Ireland, Arizona, Maine, New Hampshire and the Cape. They enjoyed many years wintering in Florida.
He will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ann C. “Nancy” Conigliari of Rockport; his daughter, Ann Mitchell and her husband Paul of Gloucester; his son, Anthony “Tony” Conigliari and his wife Jennifer of Gloucester; five grandsons, Victor V. Conigliaro IV of Gloucester, Nicholas Conigliaro of Rockport, Tyler Conigliari of Gloucester, Michael Burbank Jr. and Adam Conigliari both of Gloucester.
He was predeceased by his son, Victor V. Conigliaro III and his sister, Loretta Leahy.
ARRANGEMENTS: A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in St. Joachim’s Church, Holy Family Parish on Monday, April 9, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
There will be no visiting hours and the burial will be held privately.
