William Haskins Coburn Jr., 82


William Haskins Coburn Jr., 82, husband of Liliane (McNayr) Coburn, died Friday, April 6, 2012, at his home. Born in Boston, he is the son of the late William H. Sr. and Dorothy G. (Davis) Coburn.

Bill grew up in Boston; he lived in Chestnut Hill during the winters and Manchester during the summer months. He made Manchester his permanent residence in 1965. Bill is a graduate of Harvard University, class of ‘52 and played the trumpet in the Harvard Band and the Snerders Silver Cornet Band. He was a member of the Manchester Yacht Club, Harvard Club and Essex Country Club. For nine years, he was on the Manchester School Committee and Conservation Committee and never missed one meeting. Bill loved raising and caring for many dogs. He enjoyed racing sailboats, collecting antiques, especially clocks, and gardening. Bill continued in his love for music by playing the trumpet and accordion.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son: William S. Coburn of Derry, NH; daughter-in-law: Kely Coburn of Londonderry, NH; three grandchildren: Riley, Shannon and James Coburn of Londonderry, NH. He is predeceased by his son Richard L. Coburn.

ARRANGEMENTS: A Funeral Service will be celebrated at Saint John's Episcopal Church, 705 Hale Street, Beverly, on Wednesday at 11 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the Campbell-Lee, Moody Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly (North Beverly Location), on Tuesday from 4 to 7 P.M. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Manchester. Memorial Donations may be made in Bill’s Memory to the Harvard Band Club, 74 Mt. Auburn St., Cambridge, MA 02138.
