Alice Abraham Stamas, 96, of Rockport, MA, wife of the late, Christopher W. Stamas, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012, in the Seacoast Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, in Gloucester, MA.
Alice was born in Boston, MA on April 11, 1915, the daughter of Elias and Lillian (Abdulla) Abraham.
She lived for many years in West Roxbury, MA and after graduating from high school she worked in fashion retailing. She loved Cape Ann and finally moved here in 1991. Alice enjoyed creating Lebanese foods for her family and friends, as well as being a great baker. First and foremost was her family. She was very focused and doted on her loving grandchildren. She was a member of the Pigeon Cove Circle Club and a member of the Rockport Garden Club.
Alice is survived by her three children, Judith A. Banks and her husband, Vincent Banks of Rockport, Christopher Stamas Jr. and his wife, Suzan Donohue Stamas of Barnstable, MA, Lynne Tarantino and her husband Dr. Arthur Tarantino of W. Hartford, CT; six grandchildren, Lauren Cohen and her husband Shawn Cohen of Plymouth, MA, Lisa Banks of Chevy Chase, MD, Jonathan Stamas of Austin, TX, Margot Stamas of N.Y. City, Alexa and Olivia Tarantino of W. Hartford, CT; four great-grandchildren, Christopher and Michael Cohen of Plymouth, MA, Lily Correia Banks and Ethan Correia Banks of Chevy Chase, MD.
She was predeceased by her two sisters, Adebe Leon and Adele Burns and her two brothers, Albert and Edward Abraham.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her Visiting Hours will be held in the Burgess & Mackey Funeral Home, 201 Main St. Rockport, MA on Wednesday, April 11 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Family and friends are cordially invited.
There are no services and her burial will be held privately.
